How to ask for Money

Gaining Major Donors

09:30 AM at Goodman Community Center (Length: 90 min)

This “crash course” in fundraising is designed to provide Board members and staff with basic concepts in major donor cultivation and solicitation. We start with current philanthropic trends and essential information about why people give money, and end with a fool-proof outline that anyone can use to ask for anything. Attendees emerge feeling that fundraising is a little less frightening and with new confidence that their objectives can be reached. This course is most valuable for organizations that have at least two representatives in attendance.

David Allen is the principle for Development for Conservation LLC, a consulting business specializing in fund development for nonprofit conservation organizations. David’s background includes 25 years working in membership fundraising, major donor development, communications, and marketing. He has worked for Nature Conservancy chapters around the country and for the Sand County Foundation in Monona, devoting his professional career to help conservation organizations and land conservancies pursue excellence in all aspects of their conservation endeavors. Locally, David is a Community Representative on the Board of Community Shares.
