Focal Flame Photography. Art that moves you. Focal Flame is the photography studio of Clint Thayer and Robyn Perrin. Clint Thayer was born on coast of Lake Erie, growing up in the small town of Lakeside, Ohio. Surrounded by rocky outcropped shores, Lakeside was a study in contrasts: an influx of tourists and cottage owners in the summers who flocked to the tiny town to enjoy simple pleasures of sunshine, fishing, and a relaxed lifestyle; and powerful winter storms endured by the fewer than 15 families that lived there year-round. It was in this setting that Thayer first developed his keen observation of nature and human subjects alike. His love of photography was also influenced by his grandfather, a real estate agent and avid photographer who captured images blending architecture and the human experience. Coming to photography from a background in computer programming, Thayer balances an appreciation for technical aspects of digital photography with a keen sense of composition. Majoring in computer science, Thayer also studied photography at The College of Wooster in Ohio. He founded Focal Flame Photography, LLC in 2010 together with his wife, writer and co-owner Robyn M. Perrin. Thayer’s work has been displayed at several exhibitions in the Midwest. Awards include: two 2nd place and 1 honorable mention (2010), Lakeside, Ohio Photography Show (juried); “Muscle Meet Pedal” (2010) - juried photograph book entitled First Look (Center for Photography at Madison); “Tangles,” Members’ Show, CPM (2010); Honorable mention, Adorama iPhone Photo Contest (2009, juried); and “First Bees” (2009), XI Concurso Internacional de Fotografía Apícola (juried).
